I applied online. I interviewed at Garmin (Olathe, KS) in May 2023
Interview
45 min initial phone screen with recruiter, followed up by a 1 hour technical screening by an engineer, then flown out to Olathe for an all day technical panel with 3 sessions and a lunch.
The recruiter screen and technical screen were chill. The interviewers were relatable and only asked basic questions about my resume and ideal circuit elements. However, my experience turned sour when I was flown out for the panel interview.
I applied for the fitness watch hardware team but I found out during the final panel that all the teams interviewing me were for the aviation group which was an experience mismatch. Not only that, the last group I interviewed with was rude, condencending, and quite frankly came off as bigoted.
The final round gave a school like assessment on electronics, it was on paper. They covered op amps, capacitors, diodes, leds, behavioral, resume, and some basic circuit design questions

Career fair interview on campus. Interviewer was polite, general discussion of resume and was asked expound on a few points or describe in more detail my professional experience. Transitioned into pen/paper technical interview.

I applied through university. I interviewed at Garmin (Olathe, KS) in Feb 2026
Interview
30 min phone screen, then 1hr technical interview, then 3.5 hours on-site interview. It's your typical interview: they start by talking about your resume and projects, then put your technical skills to the test, and finally open it up for you to ask questions.
