Process throughout was very focused on current problems the company was dealing with. Clear communication on their end.
First interview was with a Product Manager and an Operations Manager. Asked questions about something internally they were dealing with and how I would approach the problem.
Second interview was a 2 hour, 2 part in person interview, Both parts attended by the Product Manager from the first round. Part 1 was a technical where I had to talk through how I would take data from a low code platform, make a dashboard displaying calculated fields and implement AI from Gemini to answer questions within the context window. Part two was a panel interview from multiple managers and a Director covering task prioritization, working with stake holders, security of information, and how I used AI to optimize parts of the business I was working at.
Part three of the process was an at home technical. This involved the PM sending me an email 1 hour before a review meeting to go over my solution. This involved the below task:
Background: A common part of a childcare subsidy (or childcare in general) is attendance tracking, verifying the childcare actually took place and determining what is owed for payment. Childcare providers have many different ways to track attendance: Some use existing software specifically designed to track hours, some use tools like excel, and some use pencil and paper. To ease the administrative burden as much as possible for providers we want to make a flexible system where they can submit their attendance to our subsidy program no matter the form.
The Ask: Build a prototype of this attendance logging tool as a proof of concept. Using n8n, build a workflow that takes in an input of a screenshot of attendance that a childcare provider provides. The workflow should then extract and store the data from these images in a database. Finally, it should send a notification to the operations team that new attendance has been submitted.
I did not complete the ask of this part of the interview, I felt that it was difficult to complete within the hour, even if you did know the optimal design ahead of time, whether by design or not.
