Interviewing with Gateway left me feeling frustrated, disrespected, and disappointed. I began by applying online and was contacted to schedule a first round phone interview - just 30 minutes. I spoke with Anastasia, who was great, but after speaking with her, I didn't receive a word of communication for over two weeks. I can't recall whether I followed up with her or if she reached out to me, but I was eventually told that I'd be moving forward to final rounds, which included 1) an interview with the two co-principals and an academic coach, 2) an interview with the humanities team (about 10 people), and 3) a 45-minute demo lesson with students (during which members of the humanities team perpetually came in and out of the classroom to observe me, which was very distracting). In order to be successful, I spent about 5 hours preparing my demo lesson and took it very seriously. It's now been two full weeks since I interviewed and I haven't heard a single word from anyone on the team. As someone who formerly worked in HR/Talent Acquisition, I firmly believe in the importance of a positive candidate interview experience, and believe that a poorly managed one which lacks basic respect and communication says a lot about the organization overall. Very disappointing indeed.
