      Anonymous interview candidate
      Minneapolis, MN
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at General Mills (Minneapolis, MN) in Sept 2018

      Interview

I had been chatting with a recruiter at GM for about 6 months before I received an email to come and interview in person. It took this long because of timing on my side. The recruiter was amazing. I met with seven people on the day of the interview. Honestly, most of the people were fair and personable. The questions ranged from basic personality questions, to tell me about a time..., to launching a new product. I will say be prepared to understand processing of every single GM product and I mean everything.

      Question 1

When you retort, why must you fill the product to the required amount of spec? It should not be filled over or under.

      R&D Scientist Interview

      1 Dec 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at General Mills in Sept 2015

      Interview

This was a University Recruiting Interview process. Two scientists visited the university and had an interview day for students. They slotted 30 minute interviews for both job and internship positions. When I arrived, they told me that HR had a new system in place to ensure uniformity between University Recruiting locations so they had a set question list printed out for Interviewer 1 and on a laptop for Interviewer 2. Interviewer 1 asked me questions and Interviewer 2 typed my answers into the computer. It felt very automated and I was not very comfortable with the process. There were also quite a large number of questions for a 30 minute interview and it seemed like a rapid-fire Q&A to get through them all which may be why I did not get a call back. I heard from other students interviewing that some of their interviews went over time and those interviewees tended to get call backs potentially because they were more eloquent and complete with their answers.

      Question 1

What would you do if an ingredient supplier contacted you and said the ingredient tested positive for some food pathogen?
