I reached out directly to the Dean and Department Chair for an adjunct teaching position at the end of the spring semester. They promised to keep my information on file and they honored this claim by offering me an interview in July. I was invited for an in-person interview which lasted about 45 minutes. The department manager and administrative assistant were polite during the check in and waiting process. I was interviewed by the department chair and a senior faculty member. The questions were fair and in-depth. I really got a good understanding of the culture and values of the institution by the questions they asked. They also inquired about various things on my resume and work experience, which I was happy to elaborate on. It was a lot of fun discussing my ideas on effective teaching. In the end, I had a fairly good sense that they knew who I was and that I knew who they were. I could not wait to start working there. I received word in less than a week that I would be hired and was offered two classes a few days later to start teaching in the fall. Smooth and timely process overall.
