This was a telephone interview conducted by an external agency. I was surprised, as I had applied to Grifols directly. This did not feel like a recruitment agency, but rather an outsourced HR services provider.
The interview was very one-sided, and the person I spoke to was unable to answer any questions at all about the company they were hiring for. They could not even confirm that I had got the correct office location, even though one of their first questions was to check that I had verfied the commute would be reasonable for me.
During the interview, the interviewer was constantly typing loudly throughout. There was other background conversation as well, reminscent of a call centre, and all of it was quite offputting. Whilst I understand that sometimes business environments are distracting, this did not feel like a deliberate and controlled 'pressure test', instead it just felt like lack of care to conduct the interview properly.
At times during the interview I felt like I was talking to an application form. For example, I expanded on some of my answers, giving good detail and driving the conversation forwards. However, the interviewer was reading from a script and was unable to adapt the questions to reflect that I had previosuly addressed some of the questions, so I had to repeat myself quite a bit. This was offputting and impersonal.
I have received feedback from the interview, and while it is mostly fair, I would caution them against this quite 'cut and paste' approach, as it seemed they really were looking for the elusive 'perfect' answer. I wonder whether the hiring manager at Grifols is aware of this, as I would not use this service to screen candidates myself.
I am sorry to say that the experience gave me a negative impression of both Grifols, and the agency they employed to conduct this interview. I feel like it was a rather gratuitous waste of my time.
