      Senior Firmware Engineer Interview

      26 Apr 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Bengaluru
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at HARMAN (Bengaluru) in Dec 2020

      Interview

The worst interview process that I came across recently is here in Harman (Product company). I got a call saying that there is a diversity drive for women employees. So I applied. I was then asked to attend a webinar, followed by two technical interviews. These things happened in a period of two weeks. Even though I was busy on a weekend I managed to take up another discussion with a senior manager. After this long process, the HR told me that I have been selected among the 15-16 candidates on the diversity drive. He said he will conduct the HR discussion soon. Later I kept following up but the HR kept postponing the date of interview. I was confused as to what is happening. Finally the HR said that I have been selected but since it is year end vacation time, he is unable to get certain approvals from the organization to continue the HR interview. He promised to conduct the HR interview in January 1st week. Later he did a salary discussion and also asked me to shared the list of documents for verification. Even after sharing all required documents , he still did not release the offer letter. After another two weeks of waiting, he came back saying that the role for which I was selected is currently changed to internal hiring. This was really an unpleasant decision taken by such a huge company. After completing the external hiring drive , promising the candidate that you are selected and then saying that role isn't available was literally a cheat. I felt that the last two months of webinar, interviews, discussions were all just a waste of time. The story doesn't end here. The HR later told me that there is a similar role in another team for which they are hiring. He referred me to that role. After almost three weeks of waiting he said, I need to give another interview for this new role with another manager. Though it costed me some more time, I agreed with the hope of joining this reputed company. In this interview, I was initially asked questions on my area and later the Manager explained me about the role and duties of this job. He slowly started discouraging me by quoting this work as tiring, extra hours, late night calls, daily commute to office. Though I was okay with coming to office and late night calls, he started demotivating me saying that as a women it will be difficult for me to manage such work and asked me to rethink about it. After the interview I clearly understood that this interview was a namesake discussion to make me withdraw myself from this opportunity. A drama to hide the previous injustice. They totally wasted a lot of my time and did not give me an offer. I did not expect such unprofessional behavior by such a reputed organization. Extremely unhappy with how HARMAN has treated me as a candidate.
