      Automation Tester Interview

      13 Jan 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Pune
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at HCLTech (Pune) in Jan 2020

      Interview

I had the worst interview experience in my 5 years of career. HCL HR (HCL magarpatta Pune location ) sent an interview invite to me. So I went. The JD that she sent was matching my profile. On the day of interview 68 people came for giving interview for automation tester. But there were only 2 interviewers. Most of the interview panel didn't show up. The interview was supposed to start at 9.00 a.m. But it started at 11.30 a.m. I had to wait till 5.30 p.m. for my turn. And when my turn came, the interviewer saw my resume and said that we need people from investment banking domain only and within 5 minutes my interview was over. I belong to banking domain, but not specifically to investment banking. The interviewer was himself tired and was not interested in taking interviews, so he was simple rejecting people like that. Such a inefficient HR management at HCL. Such a big waste of time. HR should not have called people if there was such strict criteria for domain or should have mentioned in JD that investment banking domain is mandatory. And HR should make sure that interview panel comes.

      Test Automation Interview

      29 Jun 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Jose, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at HCLTech (San Jose, CA)

      Interview

Interview involved only asking to write programs and with use of very specific Linux system tool commands (such as the command arguments to power off or boot a system through LOM interface). Interview screening was on a poor connection video call. Interviewer was unfriendly and I felt like there is likely some discrimination going on based on age or race. There was resistance to clarify the interview questions from the interviewer. Later found out this is the company that may have been responsible for the Boing 737 Max faults, and was not too surprised when I heard that. I was not really qualified for the job, but felt like even if I was highly qualified I would not have passed the interview or been hired anyways.
