Initial Communication: I was informed of a vacancy for the position by a friend and sent a CV to the HR Manager, who called me within a week to set up an interview with the Country Manager for Pakistan Operations. A week later, I gave an hour long interview that focused primarily on my past experience and the services I performed for the organization I was with. He informed me of the expectations they had for the person who would fill the position as well as informing me that if successful in the initial interview, I would be contacted by the person I would report to for another interview. The Country Manager struck me as a person who was well versed in not only the skills I had, but the skills I was expected to have in order to satisfactorily perform my job if I was accepted. I was contacted over the weekend by the Head of Compliance who informed me that I was one of the short listed candidates and conducted another interview over the telephone, lasting nearly 2 hours in which he asked several questions relating to the work I was expected to perform. The Head of Compliance struck me as an extremely professional person and if selected i would be fortunate to have him as a supervisor because of his immense command over all areas related to the job. He told me someone would contact me shortly if I were successful and
Offer: I was offered the job 4 months later, in which period I had assumed I wasn't successful. I was agreeably surprised at the offer and accepted it since it would not only entail moving from a local bank to an international one, but the best part would be the steep learning curve I would have.
