My CV was submitted and I received a link to the automated test from Codality. I had to configure the framework as it pointed to C++ rather than python. I read the five tasks. One of them was Postgres related, not something I had claimed expertise in.
They claimed the process would take 45 minutes. Reading the 5 tasks in any real way would have taken 10 minutes. Completing them in this rather awkward framework was not something I was willing to do.
I closed the browser and withdrew from the recruitment process.
The process was not respectful of my time and had little bearing on day to day development.
A process like this is lazy and ill thought out. Having spent the previous day recruiting for my present company I saw zero value in Hamilton's approach to gauging a developers ability.
I regret not paying attention to other negative reviews of their process. Luckily I minimized the wasting of my time.
A final note, if Codality want to test python skills they might try and provide pythonic coder rather than python written by a C programmer.
