Executive Assistant to Chief Executive Officer Interview

      31 Dec 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Handshake (San Francisco, CA) in Aug 2018

      Interview

Interviewed online. On 8/2018, the current EA and I had such a great conversation, and my responses were stellar, but she hated my guts, and sadly still is looking for an EA for her poor Boss..

      Interview questions [6]

      Question 1

As an executive assistant, you will be expected to think on your feet and handle countless ad hoc requests. Please walk us through how you would handle each of the situations below: ● The CEO has a candidate interview for a senior role at 11:45am. At 11:30, a Board member calls him regarding a pressing issue, and they will likely be on the phone for upwards of an hour. You need to ensure that the CEO is able to take the call uninterrupted, but also are responsible for a good candidate experience for our guest.

      Question 2

      ● The CEO is on a business trip in New York. He is leaving the next day (straight from New York) to take a personal trip out of the country. He realizes at 3:00pm PT that he doesn’t have his passport, which is at his apartment in San Francisco. How would you approach this issue to ensure that he is able to take his much-deserved personal vacation?
      1 Answer

      Question 3

The CEO loops you in on an email thread with a Board member, a potential enterprise customer, and two Handshake colleagues on the Employer team. They are all trying to schedule a meeting with each other. There is no clear action item for you based on the CEO’s most recent email. How would you go about determining what was expected of you?
      1 Answer

      Question 4

Written communications are a huge part of this role. Please draft emails for each of the following scenarios: ● Scheduling a call with the whole Board in three days to discuss a confidential personnel matter. (Note: there are three external Board members, all of whom have very busy schedules.)
      1 Answer

      Question 5

The CEO was invited to a conference which he tentatively accepted, but after seeing the attendee list, it’s clear that it won’t be a good use of his time. He now has to send an email to the conference organizer to let him know that Handshake will no longer be attending.
      1 Answer

      Question 6

      ● We have a team field day in three weeks and the CEO wants to send an email to the whole company getting them excited for the events of the day and encouraging them to fully participate.
