I interviewed for a Learning & Organizational Development Manager role at Hanwha and was initially optimistic. After a phone screening and in-person interview, I was asked about salary expectations and start date, which suggested I was being seriously considered.
I followed up after the interview on Thursday but didn’t hear anything until the following Tuesday, when I was informed (via their third-party recruiter) that they had decided to pass. The reasoning given was a need for “smaller company L&D experience,” which had never come up during either of my interviews.
Additionally, I left printed work samples behind and requested to have them returned, a request that was never acknowledged by the company. While the recruiter also promised a follow-up call that didn’t happen, what was most disappointing was Hanwha’s lack of direct communication and closure.
Candidates put significant time and energy into interview processes, and it’s fair to expect professionalism, transparency, and basic courtesy in return. Unfortunately, this experience did not reflect that.
