      Loan Representative - Inbound Interview

      6 Mar 2018
      Anonymous employee
      San Francisco, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Happen Bank (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2018

      Interview

The recruiter initially reached out to me informing me that they have seen my application for a specific role but that role wasn’t open. However, she did inform me of the Loan Representative role that was open and asked if I was interested. I said yes and after she screened my background, she scheduled me for an on-site interview to check out the office and meet some of the team members that would be interviewing me. When I arrived on-site, the office was beautiful. The recruiter gave me a tour of the office before putting me into a quiet room where my interviewers would come in and interview me. The interview lasted for a good hour and I went through 3 people, the last one was a senior manager. I actually had a lot of fun during the interview and I felt like the conversations were very organic. The Team Leads really know how to make you feel welcomed.

      Inbound Loan Representative Interview

      11 Aug 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Happen Bank (San Francisco, CA) in Aug 2017

      Interview

Two parts to the interview process: had a phone call with a recruiter and then came on site for a group interview with 4 people. Overall, a bad experience that showed me a lack of professionalism from the company. I honestly wanted to decline in the event I even got an offer after this experience. When I initially applied online, the recruiter got back to me the same day about setting up a phone screen. I replied with my availability also on the same day. It took almost two weeks and 3 follow up emails to get the recruiter to finally reply to my email. After that long awaited reply, the phone call was scheduled another week later. So about 3 weeks from initial contact to phone screen. I never got an apology from the recruiter. As a matter of fact, the sense I got was that this behavior is normal at Lending Club. I originally applied for "Operations Specialist, Borrower Support." Turns out the job posting was a little deceptive in the sense that it is a blanket job title that can mean a variety of different, specific jobs at Lending Club in that department. I found this out on the phone screen when it seemed like the recruiter was trying to move me into roles different than what I applied for. He disclosed that those roles are under the blanket of "Operations Specialist, Borrower Support." Among other red flags, the role I was directed into was a sales job. Completely different than what I thought I applied for. Another red flag was that the recruiter wanted me to come in the next day for the on site. It was quite a surprise and really short notice. It makes me curious about the turnover for that job. I ended up accepting, and came in for the onsite. Pretty standard questions. No curveballs. Another red flag and something that did upset me was that one of the interviewers who was scheduled, just didn't show up. I was sitting in the conference room for half an hour doing nothing. After how irresponsible and unprofessional the recruiter was, this just cemented my belief that no one at Lending Club knows what's going or knows what they're doing. I worked with them to "interview" with a substitute, but still, a bad experience. The recruiter told me that I should expect to get feedback on whether or not I got the job the same day after the onsite. The last supervisor I interviewed with said one to two days for feedback. Both were wrong. It ended up being more than a week until I got an answer. After a few days, I tried contacting the recruiter, both through email and phone call, for updates. That was an ordeal just like the start of the process was. The recruiter was "very busy" and didn't seem to have time for me. I did not get an offer but I probably dodged a bullet here. Lending club was a bad, bad experience from start to finish.
