Warning: my review might be biased. I hope not to offend anyone from Island Air who is reading this.
Sent in resume. Get called back weeks later. Called in for group interview (4-5 people sitting in, 5-6 potential hires) People conducting interview seemed uncomfortable. All potential hires were nervous. Process took a month. Although a couple of people were nice, the interview felt off to me. Most people were dressed in the classic flight attendant garb. Some had flowers in their hair. Second group interview couple days/week later. CEO was in one interview and came out laughing and smiling, but saw me sitting there and completely ignored me. They talked a lot about being a family, but seemed not to care about the people they were interviewing. The girl ahead of me was incredibly pretty and the CEO seemed like he would have hired her on the spot. I would have. I felt intimidated since I am neither skinny nor pretty. During the interview, was told I should probably look elsewhere in the company for a job. That felt weird. The second interview felt better than the first. Was informed a week later that I was not selected.
Most of the process felt weird, not genuine. Again, I could be biased or insecure, but it just didn't exude a welcoming atmosphere for the most part. I've had great interviews where the people are so happy and end up hugging me at the end. This was not one of them. Some people were nice, but overall, the feeling was a 3/10.
