I had interviews with 6 members of the team over the course of 3 weeks, all which went very well. I then I didn't hear anything from the recruiter for two weeks after two follow up emails. Almost aanother week, I got an automated response saying my application was not being considered.

HelloFresh has an unnecessarily long interview process. Everyone I met was great but it seemed to take forever. They also topped it off by asking me to take an "evaluation" that amounted to 20hrs of free labor (they say less but it is not realistic). As a freelancer this is a significant financial gift to the company. 4-8 hrs would still be too much to give away given this is how we survive. It makes it seem like theirs a lack of competence at the leadership level in evaluating portfolios and making effective use of an interview. I got the sense that HR was driving the requirement more than the person I would be reporting to. I found it all very disrespectful. I proposed a freelance project or asked them to pay me for the test. When they said they couldn't do that I bowed out from the interview process. If they had asked for a 1 hour test (that was actually a test) taken during the interview, I would have accepted no problem.
