To be honest? A waste of time.
I got 3 interviews plus a home test. A lot of time and effort spent in a job offer that, after a month without any feedback from them, I have been rejected for. Allegations? There was an internal candidate that "has a strong fit for the role. But your CV is amazing, we are very impressed with you". C'mon.
Did you not know about that person earlier? Do you really need to make me waste my time in a position in which I compete with an internal candidate? Everybody knows that someone outside of the organization cannot compete with an internal, the company assumes lower risk and learning curve is shorter.
Definetely, a waste of time.
Advise for next job open positions, consider first internal candidates, and then, if none of them fits, try looking for outside your organization.
Again, do not waste people's time.
