      Brand Manager Adhesives Interview

      1 Nov 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Henkel in Nov 2018

      Interview

Fist and last step: telephonic interview. A bored-to-death recruiter called me after viewing my application. I guess I'm even glad that didn't call back as we agreed, in order not to prolong the unpleasant interaction. Too bad that big brands get their image altered by unacceptable experiences like that. Perhaps they should pay even more attention to their recruiters, as being a first-hand brand ambassador.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Q1.Her first question, with a 'really don't care' attitude and inadequate voice tone was "What makes you suitable for the job you applied?" My immediate pop-out question was " Did she even read my CV or I was only a name on a TO DO list"- I still regret that I didn't ask her this outloud. A1. I "refreshed" her memory about my 6y of brand management experience and talked about the 360-degree campaigns I had the chance to coordinate so far. Q2. Using the same unfriendly tone she asked if "she may evaluate my English level" A2 : Of course I understand the need to filter the first waves of candidates, yet I think there are some unwritten rules of common sense. Such as correlating the candidates' previous experience(s) to avoid embarrassing conversations consisting in "What are your hobbies? Tell me about your current job". Not to mention the fact that she assumed that I had some 30min spare time during working hours to complete this first step of the recruiting process. Because I left a meeting to answer what I thought it should be a 5-7 min call, I kindly asked her to reschedule the rest of the conversation for another time slot when she was available, the next day.
