      Data Analytics Interview

      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Herbalife (Los Angeles, CA)

      Interview

I passed the resume part and got a phone interview with the HR, it was a very pleasant experience, the HR asked some basic questions about the resume and experience I had. The second day I received an email for scheduling the Skype interview. By far it was the worst/most uncomfortable interview I've ever had in my life. I interviewed with 3 managers from different departments. I will try to describe it in an unbiased way: 1. Unprofessionalism. One of the manager start playing his phone in the middle of the interview and did not even understand what I was asking in the final Q&A session, gave me a completely irrelevant answer. It wasn't a peek. He was literally playing on his phone (or texting) straight for 20 minutes. Look, I get it, I might not be qualified for working in your department, which certainly I don't want to, but can you at least try to be professional during the interview? You just made Herbalife look really bad in this interview. In addition, if you are trying to set up a remote interview please prepare a good mic and camera or have a proper setup before calling. One of the manager was barely included in the picture and the manager who played his phone was too far from the mic. Some questions weren't clear enough due to the low-quality mic. 2. Interaction. I had little chance to interact with them. No "how are you" type of questions, went straight to introduce themselves and asked about me, as if I was in an integration. There is no elaboration on questions, little feedback on answers. Most of the questions are too broad such as "what's your dream job", "What do you use analytics for" or "What do you like about XXX website and what you don't like about it". No example was given and little effort in elaborating on questions. There are also awkward moments after answering their questions, everyone was silent, no feedback on the answer. Overall the second interview wasn't a great experience. Next time please give a professional training to managers before they can interview with candidates.

      Question 1

No technical questions. I was given very broad questions and expect to answer in the way they'd like to hear. No elaboration or examples on questions.
