I applied online. I interviewed at Hertility Health in Aug 2024
Interview
I interviewed for an entry-level full-stack role with three years of experience as a software engineer, working on both front-end and back-end. The interviewer seemed to lose interest when I mentioned my TypeScript experience was primarily on the front-end, though I had back-end experience in other languages and felt confident I could learn/adapt. After that, they stopped asking questions, and I ended up driving the questions.
I was ultimately rejected due to my lack of TypeScript experience on the back-end, which is fair, but surprising given the role was entry-level and I matched the job description.
The interviewer also made an unprompted comment about me being a woman and the team being mostly men. While likely well-intentioned, it made me uncomfortable and isn't something I wanted to be part of the assessment. It's best to avoid such comments unless the candidate brings it up themselves.
