Condescending & aggressive interviewers
Interviewed w/ some very senior folks. Worst candidate experience ever. Hopper’s success & fund raising has made tenured employees cocky & condescending. I was subjected to hostile interview style, that belongs to 1980s, and serves no purpose. These senior folks acted as the authority on start-ups, traveltech, fintech and every other tech-tech they may have no expertise in. They were disparaging, dismissive and disrespectful throughout. They asked questions only to roll-eyes at the answers. Kept cutting me off, forced me to listen and forcefully accept the wisdom they imparted. It’s as if they know interviewees are captive audience and will not be inclined to oppose For the fear of interview going bad. Within minutes, I had a “rejection” notice saying I don’t fit. I can’t agree more. I do not belong where the leadership cannot demonstrate humility, respect and value of what others bring to the table. They think they know it all. Good luck to them. I plan to cease transacting on Hopper after this experience. They remind of Travis Kalanik @ Uber. I hope these “analysts”, “managers”, who have now become titled executives learn to stay humble and not act like authority figured. They grew the company business no doubt. But, they grew their egos and limiting beliefs simultaneously,. Most shameful was their disrespectful language for other start-ups and their hardworking teams. The culture internally also seems brutal. One interviewer took pride in comparing themselves to Amazon, citing hard work and no time-limits to working. Another Twitter and mini-Elon Musks?
