I applied online and received a response in about a week. I was scheduled for a phone screen a few days later with a designer. The phone screen went smoothly. I got an email requesting a 2-3 hour on-site interview a few days later.
For the on-site interview, I was tasked to redesign a product page for another company (not Houzz) and had about an hour to do it. After I completed the task, I met with three designers. They asked me questions about the mockup that I'd designed for the task and then moved on to questions about my portfolio.
Everyone I met at Houzz (the recruiting coordinator, recruiter, and the designers) was friendly. I thought that every step of the process had gone well, but I didn't get an offer for whatever reason.
