Initial interview was smooth and moved to a 2nd interview relatively quickly, all positive vibes and seemed like I hit all the marks based on what they were looking for. Next, I was asked to do a test project, creating a "sample video project brief" which was compensated via a Huckberry credit, which beat the very low bar of 0 compensation. Finally a 3rd and 4th interview in quick succession with two heads of department -- after nothing but positive feedback, these two interviews felt pretty negative and when discussing freedom of creativity or what measures of success would look like. Both heads/directors felt pretty down-trodden and doom and gloom about what their future looks like. The actual words, "I seem to be the only one around here anymore that thinks story is more important than metrics." Which was *depressing* to say the least. All in all I was still excited for the prospect of bringing something special to the company but was told about a week later I didn't get the position. When I asked for feedback, I didn't receive anything back. Now a year later, it looks as though the position is open again but this time with questions asking how I'd use AI to "be more productive and creative" and really going ham on the whole AI thing, so likely a blessing in disguise and maybe those heads of departments were dreading what was coming.
