Went through the first and second round of interviews and also delivered a lecture for students. During all of these interactions the hiring committee members were very kind, welcoming, and seemed very excited. Overall the interviews were very professional but even after going through the entire interview process and preparing a lecture, there was a pretty stark lack of communication. I waited well over a month for their decision (which I was to be update on the following week). After the first follow up I was told they postponed making a decison due to overscheduling and said they would be getting in contact with me soon. When I begrudgingly forced myself to send a second follow up email I was informed that they had selected another candidate. I got the impression that they hadn't planned on updating me about their decision. It was then suggested that I apply for another opening which would "hopefully*" be posted later that week. I'm glad I asked the specifics (and didn't wait) as the position was not remotely near my area of expertise.
Good people, but a general aloofness and lack consideration for people's time.
