I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at IKEA (Copenhagen, Capital Region) in Feb 2023
Interview
Had 4 stages of interviews, lasted about 30 minutes to 1 hour. They were asking a lot of questions related to work culture, if I would fit in the team and overall comany. Emphasis on the fitting in the team. Need to be a teamplayer
I interviewed for a Graphic Designer role at IKEA and had a positive, well-organized experience. HR communication was clear and timely, outlining each step of the process. The interviews included an HR screening, a portfolio review, and a discussion with the hiring manager or team.
The portfolio stage was the most detailed, focusing on my creative process, problem-solving approach, and ability to balance creativity with functionality. They were interested in brand consistency and experience designing across print, digital, and in-store materials.
Questions also covered teamwork, handling feedback, and meeting deadlines. Overall, the process felt professional, collaborative, and fair, with strong emphasis on explaining design decisions clearly.

Examples of adapting designs based on business or production constraints
I was hired for this role. My manager who I enjoy working with is very laid-back and showed that in the interview as well, so it was easy to get along during the interview process.
I successfully completed all the steps of the interview process, including the assessments and meetings with the team. However, I was later informed that I was not selected for the position. Although the outcome wasn’t what I had hoped for, I appreciated the opportunity and found the experience valuable for my professional growth.
