      Student Advisor Interview

      15 Apr 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Washington, DC
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ISEP (Washington, DC) in Apr 2017

      Interview

The interviewer did a lot of explaining about the position and its requirements. She also explained that the company was going through organizational change and they were "flattening out" and getting rid of managerial positions. She stated that people usually stay at the company for 2-3 years and use it as a learning experience and that there is not much room for advancement. She also stated that unfortunately they could not provide competitive salaries but did provide a lot of professional development opportunities to supplement.

Thank you for sharing your interview experience. ISEP has a majority of entry level positions, which tend to engage entry level professionals for 2-3 years, at which time they are ready to take on more responsibilities and a new professional opportunity. On occasion, we are able to offer advancement when one of our few higher-level position opens up. In 2018 , two of our staff members were promoted, one from Student Engagement Officer to Program Manager and another from Program Assistant to Student Engagement Associate. We strive to make our employees' work experience rewarding and fulfilling while with ISEP, and we invest in their professional development through training , travel and additional projects that expand their skillset.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at ISEP in Dec 2018

      Interview

The process went very smoothly and rather quickly. After submitting my cover letter and resume, I was contacted by the HR director within a week. From there, we scheduled a initial HR screening, which, frankly, was one of the best HR screenings I have ever had. These initial interviews are notorious for being rather robotic and overly formal, but the HR director made me feel comfortable to ask questions, raise concerns, and learn more about the position itself. Afterwards, she quickly responded to schedule a follow-up interview the following week with my main supervisor as well as two other future teammates on the advising and program management team. Not even as much as a week later, I was given an offer letter. I would highly rate the efficiency of this interview process.
