      I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Ideals

      Interview

      I was very interested in Ideal, but the interview process felt unbalanced. The decision not to proceed relied heavily on organic performance from my previous company, which had been winding down and did not reflect my expertise. The evaluation focused on isolated metrics rather than context or overall capability, and I believe the VP of Marketing’s narrow, detail-focused style is unlikely to set the marketing team up for success. The talent team, however, was professional, organised, and communicated clearly a real highlight. I would advise assessing candidates more holistically and considering context, experience, and broader capability. I was told the company planned to hire within three weeks, but it took nearly two weeks just to receive feedback from the first round. Future applicants should be aware that the process can be slow and that meaningful feedback may not be provided, even after significant effort.

      Thank you for sharing your feedback. We truly appreciate you highlighting the communication of our Talent Acquisition team. A positive candidate experience is something we value deeply. We understand that not moving forward can be disappointing, especially after preparing a detailed portfolio. For this role, we had a particularly strong pool of candidates, and ultimately proceeded with those whose profiles aligned most closely with the Marketing team’s current priorities. All of our assessments follow a predefined competency and criteria matrix to ensure objectivity, consistency, and fairness for every candidate. This helps us evaluate overall capabilities in a structured way. We’re sorry to hear that the evaluation felt unbalanced from your perspective. Some steps for leadership roles can take longer due to multiple stakeholders. While it’s not always possible to provide detailed feedback to everyone, we do aim to share more insights whenever we can, especially when candidates request them. We recognise the importance of clarity and timely updates, and we’ll continue improving how we manage follow-ups moving forward.

      The recruitment process was disappointing from start to finish. There were consistent delays and a lack of communication, which made it difficult to understand where I stood throughout. I invested significant time into preparing a portfolio, but the feedback provided was vague and not particularly constructive, which made the experience feel one-sided and undervalued. Based on the interaction, the hiring manager did not appear to have the experience or subject-matter knowledge required to effectively review portfolios, which raised concerns about the quality and fairness of the assessment. Overall, the process lacked professionalism and structure. A more transparent and candidate-focused approach would significantly improve the experience.
