I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Illumina (San Diego, CA) in Jan 2017
Interview
One-way video interview via HireVue. Interview questions are prepared by the interview team, and are made available only after the candidate starts the interview, not unlike a phone interview. For each question, the candidate has 30 seconds to prepare and 3 minutes to record the answer. The candidate's recorded answers are submitted and reviewed by the hiring manager, followed by a decision for next steps in the application process. A total of 9 questions were received, about 4 of which were technical questions specifically for the position, and the other 5 questions were about personality, culture, work attitude, etc. From initial invitation for the interview to decision, the process took about one week.

pre-recorded video interview. very complicated and nerve-racking. not good for those who are introverts and nervous in front of camera. I wish they had more guidelines or more practice opportunities.
