      Partnership Engagement Manager (PA) Interview

      15 Aug 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Arizona City, AZ
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Imagine Learning (Arizona City, AZ) in May 2023

      Interview

I went through 5 rounds of interviews. GlassDoor won't allow me to post the titles of who interviewed me. Every single person moved me along to the next round except the last person. The Director decided that she wanted to hire me and gave her approval. The "last person" insisted on meeting me before approving the decision. This was red flag #1 because the final director I met with said I wouldn't have to meet with anyone else. The meeting with me was pushed back twice due to the "last person's" schedule. This was concerning to me because I knew that there was an immediate need for this role to be filled. When we finally met, the meeting went exceptionally well. I provided her with a layout of my plan for entering into this role. I did my research and knew what the company needed for this role. I did notice some red flags during this final interview. The "last person" didn't know that I was requesting a certain salary. She didn't know if the director was interviewing others. (I knew she wasn't.) She didn't know what Project Management platform the team was using. She seemed out of the loop on a lot of things. Despite this, the "last person" gave me positive feedback during the entire interview. She told me that she was planning on discussing me with the team immediately after. I know that this meeting never happened. I was told by several people that the meeting never happened. She then decided that she wasn't going to hire me. She didn't consult with the others and this was relayed to me. She didn't have a reason why she didn't want to move forward. (The last person) came from Study Sync in January and clearly doesn't know her role or the roles of those directly reporting to her. It seems very chaotic and disorganized. I came in with a clear plan and for reasons unknown to me, she decided that the role was no longer needed? I was in the interview stage since late June (over 6 weeks) to be turned down this way. It was completely unprofessional. With no clear direction, I cannot see how Imagine Learning will succeed with someone like the "last person" in the position she is in. UPDATE: The job was just reposted on LinkedIn on 8/17. I thought this position was no longer needed?? I have a strong feeling that I was discriminated against because of the color of my skin. There was no inclination that I wasn't moving forward. Every single person moved me through except this last person. I wouldn't work here if you're black. Glassdoor reviews for DEI in this company has significantly dropped during the last few months. This person doesn't want to see black people in management positions here. Just look at all of the other directors and managers.
