Imparta interview questions

My interview process was jumbled and seemed like they had a plan but didn’t stick to the plan. The initial interview was missing any HR person to answer questions about the benefits and ended up being 1:1 with the hiring manager. This meant vague expectations around salary and any intentional structure to the conversation. The second interview consisted of the presentation of an assessment where the emphasis was voiced as a creative problem solving exercise but in retrospect that seems like the wrong direction. Third interview would have been with the CEO which I did not have the chance to interview. The communication for how my application was declined was also unfavourable. Where I had lots of positive reinforcement and encouragement from the hiring manager from the first interview and in subsequent emails where I solicited feedback on my assessment, the rejection letter cited a new skill that was NOT on the job description and NOT part of the interview where I could confirm/deny my length of experience. It was assumed I didn’t have this skill because it had not been presented rather focusing on the other skills that mapped directly to the assessment and the job description. Instead, I was just told a version of “sorry, not sorry”. To make matters worse, the rejection email was “recalled” without any additional response until 2 days later when I would again be reminded of and confirm my rejection. I’ve never been so disappointed in the behaviour of a company I’ve interviewed with and feel I must have dodged a bullet if this is at all indicative of their overall operations standard.

The first interview was open, enjoyable and felt like the team wanted to get to know me. The second interview was open and honest. So I thought. There was a task as part of this interview which was straightforward. I was offered the job. Which I had been led to believe was fully remote. This mentioned a requirement to attend the London office from “time to time” which hadn’t been discussed prior. I was offered the position at 4.30pm on a Friday and asked to make the decision by the end of the day which made me feel rushed. I asked some questions regarding salary negotiation, number of days in London, if London mandatory trips could be expensed etc. When I had the answers on Monday, I requested 48 hours to consider the offer. Mainly as I had to research the cost of travelling to London, given this wasn’t going to be paid for by Imparta. I was then asked to attend a meeting following my request for 48 hours. During this, a senior member of staff confronted me and said that they suspected me to be weighing up another offer, which I was not. After I clarified my points and stance on needing to research the London costs we left the call with me being told I could have until the following morning, not even a day. An hour later my offer was revoked via email. Had I known of the requirement to attend London for work, even a few times a year I would probably not have applied for the role. Red flags all over this company! Confrontational management who said they wanted someone for longevity but wouldn’t allow a few days to consider an offer.
