      Process Engineer Interview

      15 Dec 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Calgary, AB
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Imperial Oil (Calgary, AB) in Oct 2018

      Interview

I interviewed as part of the Engineering 2019 Career Hires. For the first step, you will be contacted for a 1 hour Skype interview. The interview will most likely be with one of the employees from the company, not a manager. If you are successful in this you will be invited for a 4 hour in person interview. The day will consist of a technical interview and two behavioral based interviews. The technical interview will be with a senior engineer in the company and the behavioral interviews will be with your future supervisor and another manager. You will most likely be part of a group of candidates who interview that day. At the end of the day you go out for dinner with some of the other candidates. The challenging part of the interview is the technical part. Make sure to review your school notes and think about things that would be relevant to the operation of a refinery. You will need to answer troubleshooting questions. Mine was troubleshooting a distillation column.

      Process Engineer Interview

      14 Oct 2010
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Imperial Oil in Oct 2009

      Interview

The interview was behavioural based. It was only a 1hour interview that they use as a screening process. The interviewer informed that if I was to qualify for a second round, it would be for 3 hours on site. Questions were typical, how well you work in a team, how well are you able to manage conflict, what is your favourite/worst course, how well do you know the company, etc. etc. The important thing to remember is they expect you to answer using the STAR technique. Descripe the Situation or Task you had to perform, Action you took and what was the Results.
