1) I applied online and I was contacted by an internal recruiter, who did all the relevant qualification and advised on next steps. The recruiter was very competent, professional and transparent.
2) I had an interview with the hiring manager, who cancelled it 45 minutes prior to the call because she did not have any internet connection. I found this poor, but accepted to reschedule.
3) The interview finally took place. I did well and the hiring manager said I matched all the criteria and that I was through the next stage. She specified clearly that the role was not commercial.
3) I received a call from the recruiter who said that, despite I did very well, the hiring manager selected someone else because s/he had business development experience, which I found rather bizarre as the hiring manager herself specified very clearly that they weren't looking for someone with a commercial background (in which case I could have walked her through my sales background).
While the recruiter was great, the hiring manager was incredibly disappointing as she disrespectfully cancelled a meeting 45 minutes prior to this happening due to logistical reason she could have controlled or being aware of before) other than contradicting herself on the candidate's profile she was after, on top of lying to me saying that I was through the next stage to then take her word back.
All in all, what the hiring manager did was enough to take all my motivations for this role away - I would never want to work for such a person -.
