It was a rollercoaster experience and not the fun kind. The job I applied for did not have salary transparency. So in my application when asked what my salary expectations are, I stated that I would like to know what range Informa had approved for this position. This caused me to get an automatic rejection which was then retracted when the internal recruiter realized I had a referral and reached out for an interview. That was my introduction to Informa and while I didn't love it, I was still really interested in the position and went ahead with the interview. During the interview we went over my experience, he asked questions, I asked questions. It was a pretty standard first interview. At the end of every interview I like to ask the interviewer if they have any hesitations about me joining the team or proceeding with the interview process. His response was that he did not have any hesitations, he thought I would be a great fit for the company, and my experience lined up with what they were looking for. He said I would hear from him later that day or the next (at the latest) to set up the next interview. He even said he was going to forward me an email from the head of design regarding why another candidate didn't make it through the testing round, which I thought was a bit strange. I sent an email thanking him for his time and heard nothing for 4 days at which point I followed up. Nothing for another 2 days so I followed up again. Then, one week later I received an AUTOMATED email telling me they would not be moving forward with my application. After things went so well and I was told I was getting a second interview, the last thing I expected was a rejection email, and I certainly didn't expect one with zero personalization or explanation. I can honestly say it was one of the most confusing processes I've experienced.
