I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Instacart (San Antonio, TX) in May 2016
Interview
This was a group intro session with Instacart person showing a PowerPoint on his laptop. PowerPoint mainly showed how to select items (especially produce) He walked participants through one of the demos on their app. Shared via PowerPoint scheduling and payments. At end he talked to each person one-on-one asking if it sounded like something we might want to do and how many hours we wanted to work a week. NOTE: We were not given a list of items and asked to find them in store.

There was no interview process you just apply online or through the shopper app. They run a background check and as soon as that went through they sent me a card and I was able to start shopping the only thing is sometimes they have a wait list I got lucky when I applied and there was no waitlist but some people have to wait months if there’s too many shoppers in their area.
