Interview
The interview process spanned three weeks. It began with a phone screening with a recruiter, followed by a video interview with a hiring manager. A third round with a larger team was scheduled but ultimately canceled the day it was supposed to take place.
The initial conversation covered the basic responsibilities of the role and general company information. It was a fairly standard screening conversation.
During the second interview, it became clear that the role was less clearly defined than the job description suggested and would likely involve wearing many hats within what sounded like a potentially hectic environment. This left some uncertainty about the overall leadership structure and clarity of direction, which raised questions about long term success in the role.
The main concern arose during compensation discussions. After being told I was moving forward to a third interview and after learning more about the responsibilities and researching cost of living, I asked for clarification on the salary range. A range was not provided and the conversation instead returned to the number I had originally shared. When I explained that I believed the compensation should be higher based on the additional information learned during the process, I was told that she was "disappointed" and I should have done better research beforehand.
Candidates should be able to ask questions, raise concerns, and revisit compensation at any stage of the interview process as they gather more information. That is part of what interviews are for. I understand that compensation alignment is important, and instead of acknowledging the request and confirming whether the team could accommodate it, the response was unprofessional and unnecessary. Given I was also entering the third week of interviews, it's only natural I would learn more in that time span and expectations may evolve.
On the day of what would have been the third interview, I received an email suggesting I had not confirmed my interest and noting that the compensation range would likely not be changed. This was confusing, as I had been waiting for clarification from their side and given she didn't have an actual answer, I had to wonder if she even asked.
Ultimately, the process was withdrawn from due to misalignment and communication concerns.
Overall, the interviews themselves were fairly standard, but improved communication throughout the process would have made for a much better candidate experience.
For candidates who are not local to the Fort Lauderdale area, relocation assistance is not offered.

Interview
The interview process was disappointing and poorly executed. After several reschedules, the initial interviewer was kind and asked a few relevant questions. However, the hiring manager who led the next round appeared unprepared and disengaged. She asked very few questions, most of which were not relevant to the role, and made no effort to understand how my background and experience aligned with the position. Her demeanor suggested she had already made up her mind, and she was visibly distracted during the conversation, even speaking to others in the background. The lack of structure, objectivity, and professionalism in her approach raised concerns about bias and fairness in the hiring process. Interviewers should be adequately trained and genuinely interested in assessing candidates otherwise, the company risks missing out on strong talent and damaging its reputation.
