      I interviewed at JPMorganChase (Bengaluru)

      Interview

My Code for Good experience was a long but rewarding process. It began with a CFG eligibility screening, followed by two medium-level data structures and algorithms coding questions. These were designed to test problem-solving speed and clarity of thought, and they formed the initial technical filter. After clearing this round, I was invited to a HireVue HR round. This was a short behavioural interview where I spoke about teamwork, motivation, leadership situations, and why I was interested in Code for Good. The questions were straightforward but evaluated communication and cultural fit. The final stage was a 24-hour virtual hackathon. I was grouped with participants from different colleges, and we worked together to build a solution for a real NGO problem statement. The focus was not only on coding but also on collaboration, division of tasks, UI/UX thinking, API design, and presentation skills. We had mentors checking in periodically to guide us and ensure we stayed aligned with the problem. The event emphasised teamwork, clarity of design, and building something functional within a tight deadline. After the hackathon, we submitted our solution and pitched it to the judges. Results took almost four months to arrive, which made the wait challenging, but the experience itself was extremely valuable. Beyond the outcome, CFG helped me understand how to build real-world solutions under pressure, work in a diverse team, and communicate technical ideas clearly.

      Interview

Round 1: Online Assessment The first step was an online coding test hosted on a platform like HackerRank. It included: 2 coding questions on data structures and algorithms (one medium and one hard). 10-15 multiple-choice questions on core computer science topics like OOP, databases, and system design. Round 2: Technical Interview Next, I had a one-on-one technical interview with a software engineer from the team. It lasted around 60 minutes and covered: Coding problem: I was asked to implement a solution for a problem involving arrays and dynamic programming. The interviewer focused on time and space complexity. System Design: They gave a scenario to design a simplified URL shortening service. I had to explain the components, database schema, and API design. Behavioral: They asked about a challenging project I worked on, how I handled team conflicts, and my learning experiences. Round 3: Technical + Managerial Interview In this round, I spoke with a senior engineer and a hiring manager. They wanted to assess both my technical depth and leadership qualities. Problem-solving: They gave a real-world problem related to optimizing a financial transaction system. I discussed various approaches, trade-offs, and potential bottlenecks. Managerial Questions: The manager asked about how I prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and work in a collaborative environment. Domain Knowledge: Since it was a fintech role, I was asked basic questions about financial services and payment processing. Round 4: HR Interview The final round was a behavioral interview with HR. They asked standard questions like: Why JPMorgan Chase? How do you handle feedback? Describe a time when you worked under pressure. They also explained the company culture, growth opportunities, and benefits.
