I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at JPMorganChase in May 2025
Interview
I applied via referral and got a HackerRank coding test link. There were two coding questions that I solved with ease.
Got a call from a recruiter who asked me some basic screening questions and then told me there will be cohort hiring, which is 3 rounds of 45 min back to back within 3 hours.
1. The first round was a coding round. I was given an existing Java code; I had to review the code within 10 mins and share my findings. The given code looked a bit messy, but if you regularly write and review Java codes, it should be very easy. Then there was a coding question based on valid parentheses. I solved it within minutes, but the interviewer asked for an alternative approach , which I could not do; it was simple, but it didn't click at that time.
2. After a 15-min break, there was another round. I was asked a system design question. Made a rookie mistake of not cross-questioning the given problem but slowly designed a stable system. There were many cross questions and situations asked. I had to consider those in my design and had to answer the questions accordingly.
3. After another 15 min, there were leadership rounds. The interviewer asked some situational/leadership questions which I had to answer based on real-life examples.
All the interviewers were very polite and helpful. It felt like an interview process rather than interrogation.
However I find some of the recruiter sort of rude :P

Question 1
1. Valid parenthesis
2. File based system design
3. HackerRank challenge
Was given a leetcode problem within the first 4 mins of the interviewer. Wish I was making this up. Interviewers did not really introduce themselves besides names, straight to the code problem. The interview felt extremely cold. No soul, no passion, no discussion
Asked very scripted questions and everyone took a lot of notes. I really enjoyed the people I spoke with and they really made me think about the role and my past

Question 1
How could you see your past experience supporting you in this role as AI uses proliferate.
I applied online. I interviewed at JPMorganChase (New York, NY) in Jun 2026
Interview
Asked a few questions about C++ via a word doc. The interviewer was very rude from the beginning of the interview. He seemed to be angry at me for even being in the interview and taking his time. This person should not be giving interviews. Maybe he wanted to yell at someone who couldn't yell back. Very unprofessional, I ended the interview early because I was so upset.
