      Web Developer Interview

      14 Jul 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Or Yehuda
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Jive Software (Or Yehuda) in Jun 2015

      Interview

The process included an interview with my future manager, a home assignment, another interview with a leading engineer to review my assignment, an interview with the site manager and finally an HR interview and an offer. Throughout the process, every person that I spoke with was extremely nice, and they were flexible enough to address any of my needs. The 1st interview (at the Jive office) was divided into 2 parts- an introduction to what is Jive, and a "Tell me about yourself" question. It was fairly short, and the emphasis was on the technical part. It included 2 CS questions and an OOD question. I was given enough time to solve those, the responses were good and when I was stuck, the interviewer lead me to the right direction with leading question. They contacted me right away (maybe the day after) and said that I passed. I was then given a home assignment- to add functionality to a JS based twitter like page. The assignment was fair with enough room to do extra and "to shine". The review of my assignment took place at Jive's office and was very professional. The interviewer asked me about the code that I submitted- why I did this and why I chose to do that. We talked about tech beyond the scope of the code, probably to see how far can I dive in in a tech talk. Right after I sat to a interview with the site manager, and it actually felt like a nice chat rather than a stressful interview. That was a very positive experience for me. The HR manager had a video conference interview with me a few days later (to save me the trip, which was kind enough). Again I was impressed with the warm approach. The offer was more than fair and they gave me more than I asked for. There was no need for a negotiation, they wanted me to be glad about the offer, and they acted alike.
