Interview
After completing the online assessment where I had to answer scenario based questions I was invited to a group interview at the store. At first we were working individually and had to write down what we would do in different scenarios in a booklet. We also had to indicate our availability and desired hours. After this we worked in a group. We were given more scenarios and had to discuss how best to approach them. An assessor was listening to our discussions and we had to feedback our answers to them at the end. The interview felt fairly relaxed.
A week later I received an email telling me that I was a successful candidate but couldn't be job matched so was added to their candidate pool.

Someone is buying a Christmas present for their parents but they can't decide whether to buy them a separate or joint present.

Interview
Candidates had to wait for 15 minutes at a table in the store before the interview. We were then taken into a meeting room, we sat at tables of four or five with a staff member at the end taking notes. We were allocated seats with our name badges at them.
We had around five minutes to introduce ourselves. We then read a brief and had to make notes before discussing it together for around 15 minutes. The brief was to plan a Christmas event promoting a popular toy, gadget and food/recipe. There was no individual interview.
We were then asked to fill in sheets with our availability. There were sample rotas on the wall, we were told if any of the rota patterns worked to write down the number.
I heard I was unsuccesful after a week but that I was a 'silver medallist', despite making an active contribution.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at John Lewis & Partners (Milton Keynes, England) in Oct 2024
Interview
For this role we were just asked to do group discussions (5 mins preparation time + 15 minutes discussion), there were 5 candidates in each group and no individual interviews were involved. The examiners are all very nice, overall it was a nice experience.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
We were given a Christmas event scenario and were asked the following questions:
- How would you make the store and products appealing to customers?
-How would you strike up conversations to build rapport with customers?
-What strategies needs to be in place to promote best selling toys, kitchen gadgets and food products?
There was another question but I can't recall.

Interview
It was a group interview with a scenario we had to work together on. It was a bit excruciating at times but I thought I contributed well and listened to the other candidates carefully. However, I was informed I had not been successful before I even got home! I asked for feedback but was told there were too many applicants for the company to have time to provide feedback. I was told I have been added to the Silver Medallist candidate bank. I’d really like to know why I was rejected as this would really help me move forward with my job hunting.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
How would you entice customers to a Christmas event? What strategies need to be in place to promote best selling toy, latest kitchen gadget? and something else I can’t recall.
I was informed that I had not been successful before I even got home so I must have been way off the mark. They have lots more applicants to interview and will be taking lots of them on because it’s a Christmas temp role.
