I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at John Lewis & Partners (London, England) in Mar 2023
Interview
First stage was a general application where you include your CV. This also included three questions to answer, - What has attracted you to apply for this role? - What skills and experience do you have that would make you a good fit for this role? - What would excellent performance look like in this role? Followed on after passing this part, I was asked to complete a "Numerical test" which was very easy. Next was a google meet interview where there was the usual competency based questioned which they like you to answer in the "STAR" format. The final part of this interview was a task that consisted of receiving a document where I had 25 minutes to complete of the call you then jump back on the call and present the outcomes of your task.

Question 1
Usual competency-based questions just use the "Star" format to answer. Brush up on the links they provide in the email to research the company and the "Capabilities-for-Assessment" on their hiring page.

Interview
An extremely difficult, intimidating and non conversational interview. I was asked the questions that John Lewis had published already which were easy enough, but the task I was given at the end was so complicated and I was only given 25 minutes which was not nearly enough time. When I had to feedback my findings, I was clearly stressed as I hadn’t been able to complete it, and the interviewees didn’t offer any sort of reassurance or kindness. The task was suited to someone who had already worked a merchandising job before and who was very experienced. It felt extremely intense and stressful, which doesn’t seem to be in line with John Lewis’ moral conduct.
Very friendly culture so the interview process was not stressful. Some questions about yourself as usual, to test the language abilities, then the presentation. Definitely need to study their website throughly.
