I'm sorry for the 7-day wait after your final interview. I did send an update to explain that some of my team were on annual leave and when you could expect a decision, but I understand delays can be frustrating.
On the feedback you received, I agree that we could have communicated this more clearly. Legal and technical experience were not essential requirements for the role and you demonstrated many strengths throughout the process, which is why you progressed to the final stage.
Our intention was to highlight that, compared with other candidates we ultimately moved forward with, prior exposure to legal stakeholders and technical environments gave them a slight edge.
I appreciate that this wasn’t explained as carefully as it should have been, and we’ll make sure future feedback is framed in a clearer, more constructive way.
We also take on board your comments about the interview style. While we use structured questions for fairness, we’ll continue working on making the process feel more conversational and balanced.
