      Signal Trainee Interview

      2 Feb 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Somerville, MA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Keolis (Somerville, MA) in Jan 2023

      Interview

Sat through 2 interviews. The first of which was virtual, didn't last more than 2 minutes, he didn't really seem like he wanted to be doing them, all he asked was if I knew anyone working for Keolis, or if I had any experience in electrical (mind you this is a training position). A few days pass and I get contacted for a second interview. This one was at 32 Cobble Hill Road in Somerville. I show up, and sat for an interview with 2 men, one had been with the company 27 years, the other 13. They explained during this interview, experience working with electrical isn't necessary, as railroads use different systems than anywhere else in the field. I touched on a few points on my resume, both of which were met with "oh, I didn't even notice that", like really?! I honestly feel like the interview went well, and I received an email this morning stating "we were able to select a candidate whose experience better aligns with the department's needs". Let me reiterate, this was an entry-level, "trainee" position. Complete nonsense if you ask me. Y'all can keep your $22.79/hour for the first 120 day probationary period (you can't join the union until after this ends), and your railroad retirement program that doesn't even get vested to the payee until the 5 year mark. Your generous, non-matching 401k, and your dental and vision that doesn't go into affect until you hit your 1 year mark... If you're considering applying to this company, read the reviews first, almost all of them are bad, stating how bad management is. Thanks for wasting my time.

      Question 1

The interviewers couldn't even be bothered to read through my resume prior to welcoming me into the interview room.
