I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Kin Insurance in Jul 2024
Interview
Talked with a recruiter who was kind as an intro call
Completed a code challenge
There is a coding / pairing day with other developers after that.
Followed by a behavioral interview.
Then an interview with their director of engineering.
They reviewed my code challenge and then didn’t proceed with my candidacy. I’m a little bit peeved I didn’t get to even talk to anyone about my code submission, that would have been nice at least. I’m confident in my abilities and think what I wrote was well written, but I guess just not what they were looking for. But, anyway, just be weary that they take the code review seriously enough that they might reject you without speaking to you about the code.

Question 1
What are you looking for in your next role? (Keep in mind this is just from the intro call)
First I had a phone screening. Then I was offered a take home challenge. Do not make it overcomplicated. Just make it a ruby script. I did not make it the take home because I made a ruby on rails app that satisfied the user stories
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Kin Insurance in Dec 2024
Interview
I went through several rounds with Kin, including a take-home coding project, behavior interview, and a coding interview focused on my project submission.
I was impressed by the clear interview briefs I received to prepare for each round, and the detailed feedback I received from the hiring manager at the end.
