      Level Design Interview

      2 Jul 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at King (London, England) in Jan 2023

      Interview

After being headhunted, my journey started with the recruiter, who was lovely. She answered all my questions patiently and thoroughly. She guided me to the application and role I should apply for. A few weeks after I submitted the application, I was invited for a "HireVue" video interview. I had to answer 8 questions that appeared on the screen, and I had three minutes to record my answer to each question. I was also tasked in completing a work sample test, which consisted of only two questions, and I completed this in about 40 minutes. Both these tasks were fairly straightforward, although some may find the video interview a strange format. It's not one I had encountered before, but it was fine. A week or two later, I was invited to the final stage, where I had two 45-minute Zoom interviews with the manager and seniors of the game and position I was looking to get into. These interviews were a really amazing experience, and I am so thankful to have had them. The people I spoke to were so nice, and the conversation ebbed and flowed freely. I felt at ease and chill with them. This company seemed very enjoyable to work at. At the end of the interviews they said they were very satisfied with how they had gone, and so was I. It had all gone so well up to this point. Unfortunately, a month later, I was informed via a generic email that I hadn't received an offer. Given how the interviews had gone, this outcome certainly took me by surprise. They offered a feedback meeting, so me and the recruiter arranged one. I found out in this meeting they couldn't give me an offer because of logistical issues and relocation issues. This was not the outcome I was hoping for, I am thankful for the experience and everyone I met along the way. The whole process from the initial chat with the recruiter to the outcome was 3 months.
