I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Kohl's (Livermore, CA) in Oct 2011
Interview
I turned in a paper application is person, and was called for an group interview a few days later. I'd never taken part in a group interview, and I was pretty nervous. However, the process turned out to be all right. Before the interview, they had us fill out another packet of forms with our availability, past employers, and other consent forms.
I thought it was a little difficult at first, however. Instead of being given turns to answer, we were asked to just jump in with answers, which made it hard because everyone else was desperately talking over each other and trying to be first. But after a few minutes, I started to get into the groove and the interview got more comfortable. It only lasted about 10-15 minutes.
I'd read that during Kohl's group interview, the managers would ask whoever made the cut to stay behind (like giving the "your application had a mistake" excuse) . But this time around, they dismissed all of us and didn't ask any of us to stay, stating that background checks had to be made before anyone was hired.
I applied online. I interviewed at Kohl's (Austin, TX)
Interview
I had a remotely easy interview process that went pretty quick. They asked the average questions, but the pay was not the best so I did not go with them.

Question 1
Can you name a time you had to show good teamwork?
scheduled Zoom interview TWICE and both times, I waited in appropriate "room" and no one from Kohls "showed up". I even called the local store and asked if I should keep waiting, who ever answered checked and they said yes, they will be right with you. I waited over 30 minutes each time.

I applied online. I interviewed at Kohl's (Fort Smith, AR) in Feb 2026
Interview
The interview was completely online, and I spoke with someone from HR. The interview was incredibly short and lacked much substance. The interview consisted of basic questions about when I would be available, but also included a personal question about going out of my way to help somone. All in all, it was a horrible experience.
