I initially applied for a Generative AI role and made it through several interview rounds. Despite having a year of GenAI expreience they told me I didn't have enough experience and referred me to a different role (Cloud Data Engineer). Midway through the process after finishing an interview, HR ghosted me without explanation—no updates, no closure, just silence. Weeks later, the same HR person suddenly reappeared to say I had passed and wanted to me to proceed to the next round I declined at first but she was extremely pushy about it and reassured me that it would be fine. I went through the entire interview process again for this second role, and multiple rounds—only to be rejected again, with no meaningful feedback.
Throughout both processes, every interviewer was a foreign national (primarily Indian), and it felt like I was being interviewed as a local candidate just to satisfy a procedural or quota requirement. This was reinforced when I found out an ex-colleague—who required employment sponsorship—was eventually hired for the first role. It left me feeling like the outcome was predetermined, and my time and effort were merely part of a checkbox exercise.
