Through LinkedIn, got contacted by the hiring manager and had an first interview which is very stressful, even the first interview is super technical and they were always strict without smiling at all
I applied online. I interviewed at LUMICKS (Amsterdam) in Mar 2024
Interview
Initial interview was with hiring manager and lasted around 30 mins. No technical questions. I was asked to tell about myself and my background, and to describe the job from my perspective. On the very same day I was invited for a full-day of in-person interviews at their headquarters, which took place a week later. The in-person visit to their headquarters was intensive, as it all lasted from ~10AM - 5PM, and included scientific presentation about a publication featuring their instrument, and back-to-back interviews with different people from the team. One of the interviews was technical while the rest were discussions and behavioral/situational questions, related to different scenarios with customers. Final decision was made immediately next week.
The whole process was unusually fast ( ~20 days between my application and final decision). They seemed transparent and they really cared that I have a good understanding of what the job entitles.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at LUMICKS (Amsterdam) in Feb 2022
Interview
Multiple online interviews with team lead and colleagues in the same function. Full day of interviews on site. Giving a presentation about previous work to department. Interviewers ranged from associates to R&D director.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The interview process was very laborious and there was a lot of overlap in the questions being asked by all the separate interviewers.
