La Rabida rescinded my offer with no explanation.
I typically do not write reviews of this nature (or any reviews at all). However, I wanted to share this experience because, if I would have seen red flags for this in my research of La Rabida, I never would have applied.
I applied for a therapy position at La Rabida, and the entire process (from initial HR call to final negotiations) took about 3-4 weeks. Initially, the experience was very pleasant. I had a virtual interview with the hiring manager, which was very informative and helpful. Then, I had an in-person interview with the team. The team was very friendly and seemed to be a very good fit. Overall, the interview process went smoothly.
A few business days after the in-person interview, I was delighted to be offered the job. I requested time to consider, which was granted. Following a few days, I negotiated the offer and informed HR of my availability for start date. I did have work obligations at my current position that lead me to request a later than usual start date, and I asked if this would work for the team. Nobody on the hiring team mentioned a need for an early start date or raised concerns with this request. I was told that the company would have to get back to me regarding the start date.
Following this conversation, I requested the start date information and final post-negotiation offer be sent via email so that I could respond with my final decision (acceptance) in writing. The HR rep agreed to send this information to me in an email, which I eagerly awaited.
Instead, I received an email from the same HR rep stating my job offer was being withdrawn. I was completely blind sighted, as every other aspect of the interview was pleasant and the hiring managers seemed eager for me to join the team.
When I requested the opportunity to speak with HR regarding this decision, I was denied. When I thanked HR and the hiring manager for the opportunity and requested feedback regarding this decision, I never received a response. They withdrew my offer without providing me any concrete reason, and then they cut off all communication. This was all despite my gratitude for the opportunity and our otherwise joint enthusiasm at the prospect of me joining the team.
I can accept being denied a job because I was not the right fit or there was a better candidate. I could have even come to terms with a withdrawn offer, had La Rabida provided me with a real and specific reason for their final decision, such as an issue with my start-date or a poor reference review. However, being offered a job and having it rescinded with no further communication or explanation was extremely upsetting, unprofessional, and unacceptable.
This experience of thinking I had a job, allowing myself to plan and get excited for a new opportunity, and being told it was withdrawn for no known reason was devastating and confusing. The behavior of this company was completely unprofessional.
