I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Lakeview Energy (Chicago, IL) in Oct 2021
Interview
Three interviews -
1st - HR person to weed out potential candidates with vague questioning
2nd - VP finance - most enjoyable interview out of the three, this person was very fine and fun to talk with about the company
3rd - VP finance and one of the owners
To be very blunt, the owner was very uninterested in me during the interview, asked rude questions, and threw out a few items that were major red flags to me including:
1) salary seemed to go even lower as we got towards the end of the process
2) the job was advertised as fully remote but when I got at the end of the process, that was no longer an option
3) "how we work here, we don't look at the clock and work until the job is done" = excess amount of hours for lackluster pay
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Lots of technical accounting questions were the main focus to make sure your experience aligns well with what they were looking for in a candidate - someone who could get up and running fast with no issues and take ownership of a set of books.
Early in the process with someone from HR they asked very vague/generic questions that you could frankly answer in any manner in an attempt to weed out candidates.
