I was scheduled for a recruiter screen for this role, and while I was waiting in the Zoom room for the interview to start, I received an email from the recruiter saying the hiring process had been put on hold and that they would reach out when it resumed. The email arrived about 5–10 minutes after the scheduled start time.
I was very frustrated, TBH. I understand that priorities can change on a dime, but when a candidate is left hanging in a Zoom room and the only way they find out the process has changed is through an email, it's no bueno. A quick phone call—or even hopping onto Zoom to let me know directly—would have gone a much longer way than a perfunctory email. Recruiting is all about building relationships and, as they put it, "building exceptional candidate experiences." By that metric, this fell very short. I responded politely, pointing out that I had been left waiting in the Zoom room. I never received a response.
It added insult to injury that this was a Recruiting Coordinator role. My job typically involves being the first impression a company makes on a candidate, so I keep an eagle eye on my interactions with companies I apply to. I have to say, LangChain absolutely blew it. I don't think I'd consider them if they actually follow up with me about resuming my application.
