      UX Designer Interview

      29 Nov 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at LaunchBoom (San Francisco, CA) in Nov 2020

      Interview

I applied and was invited for a 30 min interview. I was then invited to do a take-home design test. It took me nearly 6 hours and I received a rejection email with two sentences of generic feedback. I asked them to elaborate on the feedback and they did, which I appreciated. Overall I don't think we were a good fit for each other, as the feedback confirmed, but the fact that I almost didn't get proper feedback at all is telling. I'm glad I won't be working at Launchboom because the interview process revealed the company either doesn't have time to compose feedback for take-home tests, or doesn't have the empathy to do so, both of which are big red flags. I felt my time was disrespected. A note to Launchboom: Taking time to send proper feedback to candidates who complete your take-home tests is an easy kindness and shows professionalism on your part. Please consider building in proper feedback response for all your candidates who complete a take-home test.

Hi, thank you for writing about your experience interviewing with us. It provides transparency to other candidates and it allows us to improve the experience for future candidates. It is a shame to hear that you felt your time was disrespected, that was never our intention. We did provide feedback for every single candidate that we sent a test to. For candidates that wanted additional feedback on top of that, we did give it in good faith, spending extra time giving nitty gritty, detailed information so that candidates can really understand "the why" behind our decision. Per feedback from previous candidates, we provided timely communication throughout the whole process so that no one had to guess where they were at.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at LaunchBoom (San Diego, CA) in Oct 2020

      Interview

I applied and someone from LaunchBoom reached out shortly after about a Design Challenge. I completed the design challenge and it took about two to three days to do. I sent in my final design, got one email that they would look over the design, and never heard back. I sent two follow up emails and no response. A huge waste of time and very unprofessional especially for a test that took three days.

Hi there. First off, I want to say thank you for your honesty in sharing your experience. By receiving feedback, we are able to continue to make LaunchBoom a better organization. I apologize that you didn't get properly followed up with after your design test. We have grown our team considerably this year, and part of the challenge of that growth was keeping up with the hiring we needed to do. We own the fact that our hiring process wasn't a smooth experience for all candidates, and we are actively working to improve that. Thank you for your investment of time in applying for our position and writing this review. Sincerely, Caitlin
